MKS Boosts Power of Spectra-Physics® Explorer® One HP Lasers

World's Smallest >6 W UV Actively Q-Switched Lasers Ideal for Industrial Manufacturing

Andover, MA - June 24, 2019 - MKS Instruments, Inc. (NASDAQ: MKSI) introduces its Spectra-Physics® Explorer® One™ HP 355-6, the highest power UV model of the highly successful Explorer One line of ultra-compact actively Q-switched lasers. Providing >6 W UV power with repetition rates from single shot up to 500 kHz, the new laser features dynamic pulse energy and power control for precision micromachining in consumer electronics applications, including OLED display and mobile device manufacturing. With outstanding beam characteristics and stability, Explorer One HP 355-6 delivers high throughput, high contrast marking-on-the-fly results for medical device and consumer packaging industries.

"Explorer One HP 355-6 expands on the industry leadership of Spectra-Physics UV lasers to a new power level in the world's smallest actively Q-switched UV laser," said Dave Allen, senior vice president and general manager for Spectra-Physics lasers. "The new ultra-compact laser offers excellent performance, advanced controls and high reliability - the ideal combination for industrial manufacturing applications."

Explorer One HP 355-6 outputs >6 W UV power with a pulse duration of <12 ns. The new model is equipped with a suite of highly differentiated software features for precision micromachining and marking. Its unique E-Track™ capability provides a closed-loop dynamic, automated pulse energy and power control. The E-Pulse™ feature provides constant pulse energy independent of the applied repetition rate, and its embedded control algorithm enables position synchronized output (PSO) compatibility.

Explorer One HP 355-6 is an "It's in the Box™" laser, incorporating electronics and laser cavity into a single lightweight package for fast and straight forward product integration into production line tools and instruments. Based on the proven Explorer One platform, the laser is designed for demanding 24/7 applications in harsh operating conditions.

Spectra-Physics' Explorer One HP 355-6 laser will be featured at Laser World of Photonics, Munich, Germany, June 24-27, 2019. Please visit MKS at booth A2.209 for a demonstration. For more information, please see spectra-physics.com/explorer-one.
