Application-Engineer (f/m)

FOR PROCESS DEVELOPMENT USING ULTRASHORT PULSED LASERS

As a globally successful high-tech company, Spectra-Physics develops and produces ultrafast laser systems. At its facility in Rankweil the company makes highly developed and individually adjusted picosecond and femtosecond lasers, which are used in demanding fields such as eye surgery and implant production. For our continued successful growth we are strengthening our international team with immediate effect by an Application Engineer (f/m) for process development using ultrashort pulsed lasers.

Job Description and Responsibilities

  • Execution of feasibility studies and application tests at in-house application lab
  • Customer support before, during and after process implementation at customer site
  • Conception, design and set-up of experiments (laser source and process parameters, optomechanic and electronic hardware, automation and analysis software)
  • Analysis and discussion of experimental results incl. documentation
  • Compilation of application reports  Marketing activities (application notes, journal and conference publications, attendance at international conferences / trade shows)
  • Development of novel, high potential applications of emerging new laser products

Education and Work Experience

  • BSc, MSc or PhD degree in physics, optics, engineering or similar
  • Strong knowledge of laser applications with an emphasis on micro-machining and medical
  • General knowledge of ultrafast laser technology
  • Thorough experimental skills in high-tech laser lab
  • Ability to perform independent feasibility studies
  • Profound communication skills across sites and with customers (English, German)
