SPECTRA-PHYSICS EXPANDS LINE OF WORLD’S SMALLEST ACTIVELY Q-SWITCHED LASERS
Two new green Explorer® One™ lasers are ideal for micromachining, marking applications
Santa Clara, CA – January 27, 2015 – Spectra-Physics®, a Newport Company, introduces two new additions to its highly successful Explorer One line of ultra-compact actively Q-switched diode pumped solid state (DPSS) lasers. The new Explorer One 532-2 and 532-2Y lasers output more than 2 W of average power at green wavelengths. The new models are ideal for applications that require exceptional performance and extreme durability in a tiny footprint, including micromachining and marking of metals and plastics, laser direct structuring (LDS) in PCB manufacturing, intra-glass marking, as well as thin film scribing.
“With the industry’s smallest size and air-cooled operation, Explorer One is a highly popular and proven solution, delivering lowest cost of ownership and easy integration,” says Wolfgang Koehler, product manager of Spectra-Physics Stahnsdorf. “The new additions further extend the capability and flexibility of Explorer One for demanding manufacturing applications.”
Explorer One 532-2 is a Nd:Vanadate laser targeted for applications that require high pulse repetition frequencies, while Explorer One 532-2Y is a Nd:YAG laser that for pulse energy hungry applications. Explorer One 532-2 delivers >2 W at 532 nm, 50 kHz repetition rate and provides single pulse energy measurement up to 300 kHz. Explorer One 532-2Y delivers a high pulse energy of >200 µJ at 10 kHz. Both lasers have short pulse widths (<15 ns) and low pulse energy noise (<3%) as well as a typical M2 of 1.1 for ultra-stable processes and highest production yield.
Also available in UV wavelengths, the rugged and miniature Explorer One are “It’s in the Box™” lasers, integrating power supply and laser head into a single package that weighs less than 1.5 kg. Explorer One has been tested to endure bare product shock and vibration with accelerations of more than 200 g’s, making it perfect for use on moving gantries. The laser is based on the proven Explorer platform with demonstrated high reliability from thousands of units deployed in 24/7 applications.
Spectra-Physics’ Explorer One lasers will be featured at SPIE Photonics West, Moscone Center, San Francisco, California, February 10-12, 2015. Please visit Spectra-Physics at booth #1401 for a demonstration. For more information, please see www.spectra-physics.com/explorer-one.
