New Spectra-Physics® Matisse® C Delivers >6.5 W and 300 nm Tuning Range with Ultra-narrow Linewidth

Andover, MA – November 15, 2017 MKS Instruments, Inc. (NASDAQ: MKSI) announces the introduction of its Spectra-Physics® Matisse® C, a compact tunable Ti:Sapphire ring laser. Matisse C delivers the industry’s highest output power of up to >6.5 W, widest mode-hop-free tuning, and narrowest linewidth in a fully automated and sealed platform. The new laser is ideal for applications in the Atomic, Molecular, and Optical (AMO) physics field, including precision spectroscopy, atomic cooling, optical clocks, microcavity resonators, and other quantum applications.

“The new Matisse C offers an unparalleled combination of frequency stability, high power, narrow linewidth and mode-hop-free wide tuning range in a fully automated and sealed platform,” says Herman Chui, Senior Director of Product Marketing for Spectra-Physics lasers. “Together with our portfolio of tunable diode lasers, tapered amplifiers, and CW dye and Ti:Sapphire lasers, the new laser further extends Spectra-Physics’ leadership in laser solutions for AMO and quantum applications.”

Matisse C delivers the industry’s highest power across the full tuning range, with an output power of 6.5 W at 800 nm when pumped with the Spectra-Physics’ Millennia® eV™ 25 W laser. New broadband optics enables continuous wavelength tuning from 700 to 1000 nm for hands-free operation. Three models are available with different levels of passive and active frequency stabilization for linewidths down to 30 kHz over 100 msec. Matisse C features variable low frequency locking and dynamic scan range functionality to reduce noise for the most demanding precision applications, while its Out of Plane cavity architecture and carefully engineered optomechanics affords high reliability and stability.
